Values
The Bible is the Word of God.
The Bible is a gift from God. It is God’s revealed will for God’s children and the church. Scripture is inspired by God, teaches us all, and equips us to live the life we were created for (2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 20, Proverbs 1:1-7). The Bible is alive, active and relevant (John 1, Hebrews 4:12).
All are welcome.
Every person is a valued child of God (John 1:12-13). Each of us is forgiven (Romans 5:8), loved (John 15:12-13) and worth finding when lost (Luke 15). God extends love to all people and commands the church to do the same (John 13:34-35). We cannot earn God’s love, but God’s grace is a free gift given to everyone (Ephesians 2:8-9). We are all equal in God’s eyes (Galatians 3:28-29, James 2:1-8, Colossians 3:5-11). God values the lost, hurting and least of these and so do we as Christ’s followers (Luke 19:10, Matthew 25:40).
God’s love is life-changing.
God freely offers everyone a radical love (John 3:16, 1 John 3:1-3) that cannot be taken away (Romans 8:31-39). God’s love unites us (John 17, 1 Peter 2:9-11) and allows us to be who we were created to be (Ephesians 4:23-24, Genesis 1:26-27). Being a follower of Jesus Christ is a life long process (Philippians 3:10-14). The Holy Spirit is continually active in our lives (John 14, Philippians 1:9-11, Philippians 2:13). This transforming process draws us closer to God so that we may live full lives (2 Corinthians 3:18, Colossians 3:12-17).
Each of us has different God given gifts.
Every person is uniquely gifted for ministry and service (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Romans 12:4-9). This service is an act of worship (Romans 12:1-2) meant to glorify God. We serve together as one united community (Romans 6:5-6) seeking to build each other up (1 Corinthians 14:12-25). In serving others we serve God and fulfill our purpose (Philippians 2:1-4, Matthew 25:14-30).
Jesus.
Jesus is the only source of life. He is the complete embodiment of God’s Word (John 1) and God’s love (John 3:16, 1 John 4:7-12). Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11) and Savior (Romans 1:16, Acts 4:12), teacher (Mark 6:34, Matthew 11:1, John 7:14-24), hope (1 Peter 3:15, Romans 5:1-11, Hebrews 6:13-26), and strength (Phil 4:13).
